John Wisniewski from Winc Research has studied the technology behind common alcohol breathalyzers to provide technical consultation for two upcoming state supreme case hearings. He will share not only the technical aspects of reverse engineering the software and qualifying breathalyzers, but also the legal, political, and common perception problems encountered in the cases, as well as the device manufacturer's dogged efforts to retain the status quo, and the factors of proprietary rights versus right-to-face-accuser guarantees in the Sixth Amendment.

The presentation will review the engineering, quality and technical issues related to the breathalyzer.
